Ingredients
Scale
- 1/2 cup creamy peanut butter
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
- 2 tablespoons honey
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon grated fresh ginger
- 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
- 1/4 cup water (or more as needed to reach desired consistency)
- Chopped peanuts and chopped cilantro for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- In a medium-sized bowl, whisk together the creamy peanut butter, soy sauce, rice vinegar, honey, minced garlic, grated ginger, and red pepper flakes (if using) until smooth.
- Gradually add water to the mixture, whisking continuously, until the sauce reaches your desired consistency. If you prefer a thinner sauce, you can add more water.
- Taste the sauce and adjust the seasoning as needed. You can add more soy sauce for saltiness, more honey for sweetness, or more red pepper flakes for heat.
- Once the sauce is well mixed and seasoned to your liking, transfer it to a serving bowl.
- Garnish the peanut sauce with chopped peanuts and chopped cilantro for extra flavor and texture, if desired.
- Serve the peanut sauce as a dipping sauce for spring rolls, satay skewers, or drizzle it over noodles or salad bowls.
Notes
- Adjust the amount of chili paste to suit your spice preference.
- For a smoother texture, you can blend the sauce in a food processor or blender.
- Freshly squeezed lime juice adds a vibrant citrus flavor, but bottled lime juice can be substituted if needed.
- Feel free to customize the sauce with additional ingredients like ginger, coconut milk, or sesame oil for added depth of flavor.
