Chinese Onion Pepper Steak

- 1.5 pounds of beef strips
- 1 green bell pepper, sliced thick
- 1/2 onion, minced thickly
- 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 1/2 cups of beef broth
- 1/4 teaspoon ground ginger
- 3 tablespoons of soy sauce
- 1/4 teaspoon of black pepper
- 2 teaspoons of brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon of cornstarch
Instructions
- Place the beef, peppers, and onions in an electric pressure cooker.
- Add seasoning, brown sugar, and soy sauce to the beef and peppers.
- Pour beef broth into the Instant Pot, stirring to combine.
- Secure the lid and ensure it is closed, then set the pressure to high for approximately 15 minutes.
- When done, perform a quick release (or choose a natural release if you prefer the steak to crumble).
- Remove the cover and press the Cancel button. Then, switch the pressure cooker to sauté mode.
- In a separate bowl, mix 1/4 cup of cold water with a teaspoon of cornstarch. Stir the pepper steak mixture into the Instant Pot.
- Bring it to a boil for 3 to 5 minutes.
Notes
- For added depth of flavor, marinate the beef in a mixture of soy sauce, garlic, and ginger before cooking.
- Be sure to slice the onions and bell peppers thinly for even cooking and better integration into the dish.
- Adjust the seasoning according to your taste preferences, adding more soy sauce or black pepper as needed.
